Played for 12 different franchises in 13 different cities (Montreal & Washington, DC), a major league record for position players, over parts of 19 major league seasons...Spent two years (2008-09) with the Phillies which included the 2008 World Champions and 2009 NL Champions...Is MLB's all-time leader in pinch HR (23)...Slugged 5 pinch HR for the Phillies in 2009, tying a single-season franchise record (Gene Freese - 1959)...Hit the game-winning 2-run pinch HR in the 8th inning of Game 4 of the 2008 NLCS at LAD (Jonathan Broxton)...Ranks 2nd in MLB history in most HR (265) by a Canadian-born player, trailing only Larry Walker (383), and 3rd in RBI (899) behind Walker (1,311) and Justin Morneau (985)...played 60 games for the Chunichi Dragons of the Japanese Central League in 1993...Hit for the cycle for Harrisburg (AA), 8/23/91 vs New Britain, finishing the feat with a bunt single...Named MVP of the Eastern League in 1991 after leading the league in AVG (.333), hits (168), SLG % (.509) and total bases (257)...Signed by the Montreal Expos as an amateur free agent in 1989

Matthew Wade Stairs… Married Lisa Astle (10/28/89); has three daughters: Chandler, Nicole and Alicia… 1988 graduate of Fredericton High School (New Brunswick)… Played for the Canadian Olympic team following graduation… Also played for Team Canada at the World Championships in Italy in 1987 and during the World Baseball Classic in 2006 & 2009… Was inducted into the New Brunswick Hall of Fame in 2012 and the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015… Following his playing career, was an in-studio analyst for the New England Sports Network (NESN) and co-hosted programming on MLB Network Radio on Sirius/XM… Spent 3 seasons (2014-16) with CSN Philly as a color analyst for Phillies TV broadcasts…
