Mickey Morandini


Named first base coach on 11/3/15, his 1st ML coaching assignment; also handles baserunning instruction...Worked the previous 5 seasons (2011-15) on the Phillies player development staff...Managed Williamsport (A) in 2011 and Lakewood (A) the following two years (2012-13)...Was a coach for Lehigh Valley (AAA) for two years (2014-15), which also included a stint with Reading (AA) in 2015...Spent two spring trainings (2009-10) as a guest instructor for the Phillies...Served as head coach for the Valparaiso High School varsity baseball team (2007-10) 


Played 11 ML seasons, nine of them with the Phillies... Was selected to the 1995 NL All-Star team...Had a career .989 fielding percentage at second base, committing double-digits in errors in a season only once...Was a member of the 1993 NL champion Phillies...Also played for CHI (1998-99) and TOR (2000)...Led all NL second basemen in fielding % (.993) in 1998 and finished second four other times (1992-93, 1997 and 1999)...Ranks fourth in Phillies history in most games played at second base (926)...Turned the ninth unassisted triple play in ML history, 9/20/92 at PIT, becoming the first second baseman to ever do it in the regular season...Was the 1989 recipient of the Paul Owens Award as the best player in the Phillies minor league system...Selected by the Phillies in the 5th round of the 1988 draft out of Indiana University.

Attended Indiana University...Was a member of the 1988 U.S. Olympic Baseball team...Presented 1995 Media Good Guy Award by Philadelphia Sports Writers Association...Hobbies: Listening to music, woodworking, trains, movies, basketball and bowling.
