Named Phillies bullpen coach on 11/17/17, his first ML coaching assignment l Spent 8 years with LAA as the minor league pitching coordinator (2013-17) and pitching coach for the Arizona League Angels (2010-12).

PLAYING CAREER

Was the first selection in the 1981 Rule 5 Draft by TOR l Earned his 1st ML win, 5/30/82 at BAL, over future Hall of Famer Jim Palmer in what turned out to be the first game of Hall of Famer Cal Ripken's record-breaking games played streak l Pitched parts of 14 seasons in the major leagues with TOR (1982-84), SF (1985-87), PIT (1987-89; 95) and LAD (1990-94) l Went 56-74 with a 3.87 ERA and 91 saves in 554 career games l Finished 2nd in the NL and T-5th in the majors in saves (34) with PIT in 1988

James William Gott… Married Cathy Fisher (10/25/90); has six children: Jenise (7/13/85), Christian James (3/13/88), Ryan (2/16/90), Tyler (2/16/90), Danny (8/6/93) and Nicholas (1/25/95)… 1977 graduate of San Marino High School (CA), where he played baseball and football… Helped train actor Dennis Quaid for his role as former major league pitcher Jim Morris in the Disney movie, The Rookie… Hobby: Martial arts.
