ANAHEIM -- Jesse Biddle, the Phillies' No. 4 prospect, has made his way back to Double-A Reading.
The Phillies on Wednesday announced that Biddle's next start will be Saturday with Reading. Biddle, who was selected by the Phillies in the first round of the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, opened the season with Reading before struggling and ultimately being placed on the inactive list. The Phillies described Biddle's time away from baseball as a "mental break."
Biddle spent several weeks in Clearwater, Fla., before recently making two starts with Class A Advanced Clearwater. He went 2-0 with a 0.90 ERA in those two starts.
The hope is Biddle continues to move in a straight line and contributes to the big league rotation as early as next season, although he would seem unlikely to make the rotation out of Spring Training.
