Phillies at the plate: Outfielder Dewayne Wise tripled to lead off the game and scored the first of Philadelphia's two runs in the first. Catcher Carlos Ruiz went 1-for-3 with a double and run scored. Prized prospect Domonic Brown had the Phillies' only multi-hit game.

Pirates at the plate: Andrew McCutchen reached base all three times he came to the plate on Saturday with two singles and a walk. He scored the club's first run of the day and swiped his first base of the spring. Outfielder Ryan Church had the big hit of the afternoon with a two-run blast in the first. Jeff Clement went 1-for-3 with an RBI double.

Phillies on the mound: Joe Blanton was knocked around by the Pirates in the first of his two innings pitched. Blanton gave up three extra-base hits and three runs in the first. He surrendered five hits in all and struck out two. Danys Baez allowed one hit and struck out two in two frames. B.J. Rosenberg followed with two scoreless innings.

Pirates on the mound: Starter Kevin Hart struggled in his first chance to try and put a stranglehold on the fifth spot in the rotation. In his one inning, Hart walked four and allowed one hit and two runs. Non-roster invitee D.J. Carrasco tossed two scoreless innings, and Brendan Donnelly pitched a perfect fifth in his first game of the spring.

Worth noting: Hart was expected to pitch two innings in his Grapefruit League debut, but a high pitch count in the first limited him to just one. ... Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard remains hitless this spring after going 0-for-2 with two strikeouts on Saturday. Howard has struck out four times in five at-bats. ... Pirates infielder Ramon Vazquez made his first start of the spring after recovering from right knee surgery. The knee seemed to give him no issue, though, as Vazquez made a nice diving stop to start a double play in the first.

Grapefruit League records: Phillies 1-1-1; Pirates 1-2-1

Up next: The Phillies host the Tampa Bay Rays at 1:05 p.m. ET on Sunday at Bright House Field. Left-hander J.A. Happ, who finished second in National League Rookie of the Year Award voting, makes his Grapefruit League debut. Right-hander Phillippe Aumont, a key piece in the Cliff Lee trade, also will be on the mound.

Pittsburgh will play host to the Twins at McKechnie Field on Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. Ross Ohlendorf will make the start for the Pirates. He will throw the first two innings, after having pitched just one frame in his Grapefruit League debut. Virgil Vasquez is also expected to make an appearance, which will be his first since surrendering a three-run, walk-off homer to the Yankees on Wednesday.
