PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies scouts are pretty much everywhere these days, watching Minor League prospects from every team that might be a trade partner before the July 31 non-waiver Trade Deadline.

Double-A Reading played Erie on Wednesday afternoon in Erie, Pa., and the Phillies had a scout there to watch Tigers right-hander Jake Thompson and possibly others. Thompson later went to the Rangers in a trade that got the Tigers right-hander Joakim Soria, but the Tigers could still be looking for bullpen help.

They have been interested in left-hander Antonio Bastardo.
