Rollins hosts Bollywood Bash for charity

PHILADELPHIA -- Jimmy and Johari Rollins ditched their everyday clothes for an achkan and saree Wednesday night at the Union League.

Even Ryne Sandberg and Chase Utley joined in.

The Rollins' hosted Phillies players, wives and others at the Rollins Family Foundation's Taste of the World: Bollywood Bash. The event benefited The Food Trust, SHARE Food Program and St. Christopher's Foundation for Children - Farm to Families Initiative.

They are new causes for the foundation, which has supported other endeavors in the past.

"We changed our mission," Johari said.

"We wanted to have it more focused and have it be more visible," Jimmy said. "Now we're providing fresh food for families in the tri-state area. Not only for families, but for at-risk youth. Give them access to fresh food."

"Make it affordable for them," Johari added.

This is the foundation's sixth year raising money for children, at-risk youth and families in need.

"We know the difference it makes," Jimmy said. "You're going to school and you didn't have breakfast, you're not going to make it through the day. So by doing this, you keep them from doing something they might have to do to get food -- crime, etc. If you keep kids off the streets you give them a chance to hopefully make something out of their lives."

The foundation has hosted Harlem, Cuban and Parisian themed events in the past. This time it went Bollywood.

"We usually flip flop on who decides what it will be," Johari said. "But I've had Bollywood in my mind. The music, the clothes."

"She's wanted to do this for a couple years," Jimmy said with a smile.
