After checking the replay, umpires ruled that the call stood, meaning there was not enough conclusive evidence to overturn it. And shortly after that, Ryan Howard singled past a drawn-in infield to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.
The Angels were involved in another replay, in the top of the sixth, when Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg challenged a force play at the plate.
With the bases loaded and one out, the Phillies brought the infield in against Chris Iannetta. The catcher hit a grounder to third baseman Cody Asche, who threw home. Collin Cowgill was ruled safe, and the call on the field was confirmed after a review of one minute, 35 seconds.
