PHOENIX -- Umpires overturned an out call at second base in the seventh inning of the Phillies' 5-4 loss to the D-backs at Chase Field on Friday night.

Cody Asche was originally called out on a throw to second base from Arizona center fielder A.J. Pollock with one out and the bases loaded. Phillies manager Ryne Sandberg asked for a replay review and the call was overturned.

Pinch-hitter Tony Gwynn Jr. hit a sharp ground ball to shortstop that bounced off the D-backs' Cliff Pennington and into shallow center field for an error, allowing two runs to score. Asche, who had walked and driven in a run, slid headfirst into second to avoid the tag from Aaron Hill.

"I'm going to go out there and put it in the umpire's hands, and he was willing to check it out right away," Sandberg said when asked why he challenged the call.

The play made the score 4-3 in favor of the D-backs with the Phillies scoring three runs in the inning.
