Moyer and Stairs join Phillies broadcast team

PHILADELPHIA- (February 11, 2014) - Comcast SportsNet welcomes 2008 World Series Champions Jamie Moyer and Matt Stairs as analysts alongside play-by-play voice Tom McCarthy and in-game reporter Gregg Murphy. Moyer and Stairs will share broadcast duties as the NBCUniversal family of networks will air 161 of 162 Phillies regular season games.

Moyer and Stairs, members of the 2008 World Series Champions, will each broadcast over 100 games, including more than 30 together.

"We are thrilled to have World Series Champions Jamie Moyer and Matt Stairs join our Phillies broadcast team," said Comcast SportsNet President Brian Monihan. "These two former Phillies bring a unique perspective to the booth, and their expert analysis will add a new level of energy, insight and enjoyment to our Phillies broadcasts." 

Jamie Moyer is a native of Souderton, PA and attended Saint Joseph's University. He grew up listening to hall of famers Harry Kalas and Richie Ashburn call Phillies games before embarking on a 26 season, 269 win major league career that climaxed with winning the 2008 World Series.

Matt Stairs carved his permanent place in Philadelphia sports lore with a majestic homerun in the 2008 NLCS that helped send the Phillies to the Fall Classic. In 19 seasons, Stairs appeared in 1895 games, belting 265 homeruns and driving in 899 runs. Stairs holds the major league record with 23 career pinch-hit homeruns.

2014 Broadcast Schedule Highlights

Comcast SportsNet will air a record 140 games this season, including the season opener on Monday, March 31 at 2 p.m. against the Texas Rangers. The Comcast Network will air nine regular season games in 2014. All games airing on Comcast SportsNet and The Comcast Network are broadcast in high definition and will feature "Phillies Pregame Live" and "Phillies Postgame Live" programming.

Philadelphia's NBC10 airs 12 Phillies games in 2014, also in high definition, including the home opener on Monday, April 7 at 3 p.m. against the Milwaukee Brewers. 

Early season highlights include a four-game matchup at home vs. the NL East champion Atlanta Braves starting on April 14, followed by road trips to the Rockies, Dodgers and Diamondbacks. April wraps up with a two-game series with a well-known division rival, the New York Mets, starting April 29.

Spring Training Games and The Comcast Network

Comcast SportsNet and The Comcast Network combine to present 18 spring training games in high definition, beginning on Wednesday, February 26 with the Phillies taking on the Toronto Blue Jays at 1 p.m. on Comcast SportsNet. The Comcast Network will carry 12 spring training games with Comcast SportsNet carrying the remaining 6 games.

In 2014, The Comcast Network takes its sports programming to a new level, airing more than 140 events throughout the year. The Comcast Network's 's expanding sports lineup includes 12 Phillies spring training games, nine regular season games and expanded Phillies postgame shows throughout the 2014 season. In addition, The Comcast Network's 2014 live sports offerings include four Philadelphia Flyers, four 76ers games, 15 Philadelphia Union contests and nearly 100 NCAA games. Additional sports programming to air on The Comcast Network in 2014 will be announced at a later date.

Phillies Focus presented by Citizens Bank

Comcast SportsNet springs into baseball season with "Phillies Focus," - a series of half hour specials airing Wednesday, February 12 through Sunday February 16 at 6:30 p.m. every night. The program airs every Sunday throughout spring training on Sunday, February 16 at 6:30 p.m.

"Phillies Focus" will look back at the off-season moves and what lies ahead for 2014. Topics include Ryne Sandberg's first full season as the skipper and a look at the new faces on the team. The shows will also feature extended one-on-one interviews with prominent players including Chase Utley and Cole Hamels.

The final "Phillies Focus" will air on Sunday, March 30 at 6:30 p.m., and will be a season preview with Ricky Bottalico, Ben Davis and Jim Salisbury providing commentary.

On Tuesday, February 11, CSNPhilly.com's Phillies Insider Jim Salisbury kicks off his reports from Clearwater, FL, site of the Phillies' spring training facility. Salisbury will provide extensive player, coaches and management interviews, plus breaking news and in-depth features on CSNPhilly.com. He will also provide live reports for "Philly Sports Talk" and "SportsNite."
