The campaign hopes to raise awareness and money to help feed area children during the summer months, when they do not receive meals at school.
"This is the first day of summer vacation for children in Philadelphia, and it marks a time of tremendous need," said Daniel K. Fitzpatrick, Citizens Bank president and CEO for Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. "The shortage of food and resources to help feed children reaches a critical point during the summer, when school meals are not available."
Philadelphia-area companies and residents can join the campaign by donating food or money to Philabundance. Non-perishable foods can be dropped off and donations can be made directly to Philabundance. For more information on participating, go to www.philabundance.org.
