Plans finalized for Darren Daulton's September golf outing

John Kruk, the Tug McGraw Foundation, the Phillies and their Alumni are joining the Darren Daulton Foundation (http://www.darrendaulton.com/foundation) ("Darren's Foundation") in a golf outing at the LuLu Country Club in Glenside, PA., on Monday, September 9.

Daulton is currently recuperating amongst his family and friends in Clearwater, FL, from surgery for a form of brain cancer. He will eventually begin treatments in Florida. At Darren's urging, the event will continue as planned.

Kruk is "pinch hitting" for Darren as a golfer and will be joined by Pat Burrell, Larry Christenson, Tommy Greene, other Phillies Alumni, Bill Giles and Phillie Phanatic. The Phillies are the title sponsor of the event, which Darren is hopeful of attending.

Darren's other venture, Darren Daulton Enterprises (www.darrendaulton.com/about) will now take on the role of tournament host.

Darren Daulton Enterprises has joined forces with the Tug McGraw Foundation (http://www.tugmcgraw.org/ourmission.html) ("Tug's Foundation") which has agreed to lend its full support to Darren's care. The mission of Tug's Foundation is to provide resources and hands-on support, foster understanding, promote awareness, and stimulate research and scientific collaboration to improve quality of life for people with brain-related trauma and tumors.

All participants in the golf outing should understand that the net proceeds from the golf tournament will be used for Darren's medical expenses.   As such, participants will not be allowed to deduct any portion of the participation fee as a charitable contribution. Nevertheless, the participation fee may be considered a business entertainment deduction. It is recommended that you consult with your tax advisor.

Golf Format

The format for the charity golf outing will be a 4-person Scramble. Following lunch at noon and the golf outing, dinner will be served at which time great prizes will be awarded for contests such as "Closest to the Pin", "Long-Drive" and low scores. During the evening, guests will have the opportunity to bid on sports memorabilia and other fabulous items. The evening will conclude with a comedy show being hosted by national comedian, Jeff Pirrami (seen on HBO and many others).
