"I noticed last night he was limping a little bit," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said.
Ibanez said after a long week, which included three consecutive extra-inning games and a game Saturday that ended after midnight ET, he just needed a day off.
"It's nothing at all," he said.
Ibanez, who is hitting .322 with 22 home runs and 59 RBIs, had started 222 consecutive games before Sunday's 11-6 victory over the Red Sox.
"It's fine," he said. "It actually was fun [to sit]. I would have paid money to watch those guys play. This team is fun to watch. It worked out OK."
