ShopRite and Phillies Team Up for Third Annual Food Drive

ShopRite and the Phillies announced today that they will host the Third Annual ShopRite Partners In Caring Food Drive to benefit Philabundance at the Sunday, July 7th Phillies vs. Braves game at Citizens Bank Park. Fans who bring a non-perishable food donation to the ShopRite Can Can truck parked on Citizens Bank Way between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. will receive a FREE ShopRite re-usable grocery bag while supplies last. Fans can also drop off their donations in Philabundance bins located at any Citizens Bank Park entrance gates.

The event is open to the public. Game tickets are not required to access the ShopRite Partners In Caring food drive on Citizens Bank Way.

This year, the iconic ShopRite truck, featuring the ShopRite Can Can dancers, will also celebrate the 11th Anniversary of ShopRite's famous Summer Can Can sale. ShopRite hopes to collect more than 10,000 pounds of food to benefit those in need in the Delaware Valley.

  • Music by 98.1 WOGL;

ShopRite is a proud sponsor of the Phillies and a longtime friend to Philabundance, the largest hunger relief organization in the Delaware Valley. Through its ShopRite Partners In Caring program, ShopRite donates more than $3 million annually to food banks, such as Philabundance, throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.

ShopRite is also one of the many Phillies partners taking part in the Phans Feeding Families month-long initiative, aimed to help raise money and collect food to feed the 900,000 people in the Delaware Valley that are at risk of hunger each year. "We are honored to partner with the Phillies to help alleviate the effects of hunger in our communities," said Christine Magyarits, spokeswoman for ShopRite Partners In Caring. "Through ShopRite Partners in Caring, ShopRite has donated more than $2 million to Philabundance and events like these help us raise awareness of this very important issue."

"ShopRite is a true summer hunger hero and this food drive on July 7th couldn't come during a more critical time," said Bill Clark, president and executive director of Philabundance. "Food donations are so important right now because Philabundance sees more families coming to us for food during the summer months. Many children in the Delaware Valley who receive free and reduced meals in school will not have access to summer meal programs and for families on a really tight budget, providing those additional meals for their kids may be impossible. Philabundance needs to be ready to provide food to those families who need it most."
