Phillies sign top German prospect to Minor League deal

PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies confirmed they have signed Julsan Kamara, a 17-year-old outfielder from Germany, to a Minor League contract. He will join the Phillies next spring once he finishes school.

Kamara attended the MLB European Academy in Italy in 2012. He reportedly is one of the better German prospects in baseball.

"The Phillies cover many events internationally and while at the MLB European Tournament in Italy, we saw a German outfielder, Julsan Kamara, who showed good power potential, so we set up a meeting with his family and signed him," Phillies international scouting director Sal Agostinelli said. "He seems like a fine young man."
