CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Phillies and Braves officially open the 2013 season at Turner Field on April 1, but they met one final time in Grapefruit League play Friday at Bright House Field.

The Phils won, 7-6, when Darin Ruf homered with two outs in the ninth.

The Phillies took the early lead behind a couple of RBIs from Erik Kratz and 4 2/3 strong innings from Minor League left-hander Adam Morgan.

Philadelphia went up, 1-0, in the second when Ruf reached on an error and scored when Kratz doubled to left-center field. Kratz came up big again in the fourth. Ruf singled, and Laynce Nix reached on an error to put runners on the corners with no outs. Kratz followed with another double to left-center field to score Ruf to give the Phillies a 2-0 lead.

Philadelphia scored two more runs in the fourth, including a run-scoring single from Yuniesky Betancourt, to make it 4-0.

Braves catcher Evan Gattis homered twice, including a shot to left in the fifth to score Atlanta's first run. His second homer was part of a three-run sixth inning that helped the Braves erase their early deficit.

Morgan got called up to make the start for the Phillies. One of the organization's top prospects, he allowed one run on four hits and three walks and struck out five in 4 2/3 innings. Atlanta left-hander Paul Maholm allowed four unearned runs on seven hits and two walks and struck out five in six innings.

Up next: The Phils play a Grapefruit League game at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday against the Orioles in Sarasota, available on MLB.TV. Aaron Cook, Antonio Bastardo, Phillippe Aumont and Mike Adams are scheduled to pitch for Philadelphia. But the big story Saturday is Roy Halladay, who will be pitching in a Minor League game at 11 a.m. at Carpenter Complex.
