Outfielder Young to have ankle examined in LA

|
BRADENTON, Fla. -- Phillies outfielder Delmon Young is scheduled to fly Tuesday morning to Los Angeles to have his surgically repaired right ankle examined.

He had microfracture surgery in November.

Young has not participated in workouts with his teammates this spring, although he has been hitting off the practice tee, throwing long toss and running at 90 percent of his body weight on a treadmill. Young said he is optimistic the doctor will give him good news, which would allow him to step up his rehabilitation program. The Phillies remain hopeful Young will play in Grapefruit League games before the team heads to Philadelphia on March 28.
