Manuel keeps Phillies' lineup consistent

PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies manager Charlie Manuel kept his defense on the field for Game 3 of the World Series, sticking with Pedro Feliz at third base.

This isn't surprising, as Feliz often plays behind lefty Jamie Moyer. Feliz was in the lineup batting seventh. Manuel again kept Jayson Werth in the two-hole against righty Matt Garza, leaving Shane Victorino at sixth, thus breaking up what would be a righty-heavy Nos. 5-9 lineup if Werth batted sixth.

"Also, Victorino has been doing pretty good where he's at," Manuel said. "That's where he's got his ribbies. Against the Dodgers, I tried Vic in the two-hole and he didn't get any hits."

Not one to panic, Manuel kept the hitless Jimmy Rollins at leadoff, despite an 0-for-10 start to his World Series, and a .191 postseason average. Two of his hits have been leadoff home runs.

"If Jimmy gets on base, he sets the tone for the game," Manuel said. "There's no sense in moving Jimmy. That's how we play. I feel like he's due to have a big night."

That night could come in Philadelphia, where Rollins has hit .314 during the regular season.

With a steady rain wetting the tarp spread across the infield, Manuel relaxed in his office chair and expressed confidence that there would be a game played that evening.

"They say we're going to be a little late, but we're going to play," Manuel said. "They say once it's out of here, it's out."

Manuel and Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon both expressed hope of playing Game 3, on what looks to be a damp and chilly Saturday night. That shouldn't affect the volume.

"They're loud," Manuel said. "It will be real loud, because we haven't been to the World Series for a long time."

4. Ryan Howard, 1B
