PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies announced Saturday that Joe Blanton would start the first game of Sunday's day-night doubleheader against the Brewers at Citizens Bank Park. Brett Myers, throwing on three days' rest, will take the ball in the nightcap. Friday's rainout caused the Phils to push their rotation back one day. Cole Hamels, Friday's scheduled starter, got the nod Saturday, when Blanton had been scheduled to pitch. Myers has pitched on three days' rest only once before, on Oct. 3, 2004. He beat the Marlins, holding them to three runs in five innings. The right-hander threw a bullpen session Friday.
"He felt very good," manager Charlie Manuel said, "and he's ready to go."
