PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies right fielder Geoff Jenkins has been activated from the disabled list, manager Charlie Manuel said Wednesday. Jenkins missed 2 1/2 weeks after suffering a strained right hip flexor on Aug. 22. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list the following day. Jenkins suffered the injury while on the basepaths. He beat out an infield single, but appeared to be limping after he arrived at first base.
Before going on the disabled list, Jenkins had been splitting time in right field with Jayson Werth. In Jenkins' absence, Werth has hit well, posting a .328 average (20-for-61) with five home runs and 13 RBIs between Aug. 22 and Wednesday. In other injury-related news, utility man Andy Tracy is out for the season after being hit in his left hand by a line drive during batting practice Tuesday.
