PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies right-hander Vance Worley rejoined the team Tuesday after visiting orthopedist James Andrews on Monday in Florida.
Worley is on the disabled list with inflammation in his right elbow. He said he also has a bone chip, which the Phillies have described as a "small body that is embedded in the lining of his joint."
Worley wanted a second opinion before he resumed his throwing program, which could happen this week. He said Andrews confirmed the Phillies' diagnosis.
"Immediately after he just grabbed my arm he knew it wasn't Tommy John," he said. "That was good. Now I've just got to go out and get it going."
Asked if he is confident he can pitch with a bone chip in his elbow the remainder of the season, he said, "It doesn't feel good, but I can do it."
