PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies right-hander Vance Worley was in Pensacola, Fla., on Monday to seek a second opinion on his elbow from orthopedist James Andrews, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said.
Worley, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday with elbow inflammation, said Sunday that he had hoped to begin throwing in the next couple days.
In a pregame meeting with reporters, Amaro did not have any update on the results of Worley's Monday visit.
"He has a small body that is embedded in the lining of his joint, which we don't think is the reason why he had inflammation, but it's possible," Amaro said. "This is something that's not very uncommon."
Worley was 3-2 with a 3.07 ERA in seven starts before going on the DL. Kyle Kendrick has taken his spot in the rotation and started Monday's game against the Nationals.
