Phils exhibition opener rained out

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Rain forced the cancellation of Tuesday's exhibition opener against Florida State University.

The storm cost first-round pick Joe Savery his Bright House Field debut, and the thrill of pitching in front of the Phillies' likely Opening Day lineup.

"I didn't want to wait around all night, and it looked like the rain didn't want to let up, so it's just as well," Savery said.

The Phillies will open their Grapefruit League season at home on Wednesday afternoon against the Reds. The game is scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. ET.
