PHILADELPHIA -- The Phillies will be without two of their regular position players for at least a couple more days.
First baseman Ryan Howard is day to day with bursitis in the heel and Achilles region of his left foot. General manager Ruben Amaro Jr. does not consider it serious and said he could return for the weekend series against the Marlins.
"If it was a playoff situation and it was a must play, he might be in there for that," Amaro said.
Also, Raul Ibanez is considered day to day with a left groin injury. The team does not consider it a DL situation.
Ibanez may have received or will receive an injection, Amaro said, adding an evaluation Monday determined it is unrelated to the sports hernia for which he underwent offseason surgery.
