Following is a look at the Phillies' top catching prospects, in alphabetical order:

Jason Jaramillo:
Age: 24; Height: 6-0; Weight: 200; B/T: S/R; Resides: Franksville, Wis.; Drafted by the Phillies in the second round out of Oklahoma State University in June 2001.

2006: Spent most of the season at Reading, hitting .248, 25 doubles, six homers and 39 RBIs in 93 games. ... Hit .317 in his last 23 Double-A games before finishing the season in Scranton, where he hit .167 in two games. ... Selected to the Arizona Fall League's All-Prospect Team after hitting .379 for Peoria, tops among AFL catchers.

Career: Three-year pro with a .274 average. ... South Atlantic League All-Star in 2005.

Scouting report: "Good actions behind the plate. Game calling and arm accuracy improved last year. Bat improved as the season went along; started to really let it go from both sides in August."

Louis Marson:
Age: 20; Height: 6-1; Weight: 202; B/T: R/R; Resides: Scottsdale, Ariz.; Drafted by Phillies in the fourth round out of Coronado High School in June 2004.

2006: Spent the entire season at Lakewood, where he hit .243 in 104 games, with 16 doubles, five triples, four homers and 39 RBIs. ... Led the club in triples. ... Had 21 multi-hit games.

Career: Three-year pro. ... Began pro career in the Gulf Coast League in 2004. Career .246 hitter in the Minors.

Scouting report: "Arm strength. Good footwork. Soft hands. Has shown a lot of improvement since the beginning of the season. Strike-zone discipline is better and is more consistent with his plan at the plate. Going to be a solid everyday player."

Carlos Ruiz:
Age: 27; Height: 5-10; Weight: 202; B/T: R/R; Resides: David Chiriqui, Panama; Signed as an amateur free agent on Dec. 4, 1998.

2006: Caught for Panama in the World Baseball Classic. ... Shuttled between Scranton and the Phillies. ... Third in the International League in average (.307), second in on-base percentage (.389) and fifth in slugging (.505). Other Scranton stats: 100 games, 25 doubles, 16 homers, 69 RBIs. Was an International League All-Star. Hit .261 with three homers and 10 RBIs in 27 Phillies games.

Career: Eight-year pro. ... Began pro career in Phillies' Dominican Summer League in 1999, hittong .305 in 60 games. ... Career .272 hitter in the Minors.

Scouting report: "Solid catcher with good makeup, good energy to game. Worked with staff very well as the year went on. Aggressive hitter, power to all fields. Game really improved over the season."

Jesus Sanchez:
Age: 19; Height: 5-11; Weight: 160; B/T: R/R; Resides: Valencia, Venezuela; Acquired from the Yankees in the Bobby Abreu deal on July 30, 2006.

2006: Hit .269 in 24 games, with five doubles and 10 RBIs, with the Yankees team in the Gulf Coast League. ... Joined the Phillies GCL after the trade, hitting .192 in eight games. ... Played in the Florida Instruction League.

Career: Two-year pro. Made pro debut with the Yankees team in the Dominican Summer League in 2005.

Scouting report: "Outstanding arm and body control. For a youngster, has a decent idea at the plate, goes with the ball to the opposite field. Good makeup, will fill out to give him more endurance. Needs to play."
