Wolf back on hill in twin bill opener

Wolf returns as Phils play day-night twin bill

It was Cubs Hall of Famer Ernie Banks who coined the expression, "It's a great day for baseball, let's play two."

As for Sunday's split doubleheader between the Phillies and Marlins, Randy Wolf only has to play one and it will be a great day.

In the opener, Wolf takes the mound for the first time since June 11, 2005. He has been rehabbing for more than a year after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his pitching elbow, and feels the day will be just as special as his first outing back in 1999.

"When you get the big leagues after an injury, it's just like your debut," Wolf said. "You have to prove that you're OK."

Wolf faces Marlins rookie right-hander Anibel Sanchez in the opener. Sanchez, who came over from Boston in the Josh Beckett trade, is 4-0 with a 3.00 ERA.

Ryan Madson tries to erase the memory of his last start, and the four wild pitches in an inning that he threw, when he takes the mound in the nightcap. Madson faces Florida right-hander Brian Moehler, who enters with a 6.84 ERA.
