WASHINGTON -- Jimmy Rollins will have to wait another day to play.
Phillies manager Charlie Manuel held Rollins from Monday's lineup against the Nationals at Nationals Park because of expected wet conditions. Rollins has not played since Sept. 8 because of a strained right hamstring.
"I figured the field is going to be wet," Manuel said. "What do I gain by playing him?"
If Rollins plays Tuesday, he would have just five games to get ready for the postseason. Manuel said that should be enough time to get ready.
"He's got to get on the field. He's got to get his rhythm and timing back," Manuel added.
