BlueClaws announce rotation for SALCS

|
Mark Parent, the former Phillies catcher in his first year as the manager of the Lakewood BlueClaws, has named his starting pitchers for the South Atlantic League Championship Series against the Greenville Drive. The best-of-five series begins on Monday night in Greenville, S.C.

Four 20-year-old right-handers get the nod for Lakewood:

• Trevor May, Game 1, 7:05 p.m., Monday, at Greenville.
• Julio Rodriguez, Game 2, 7:05 p.m., Tuesday, at Greenville.
• Brody Colvin, Game 3, 7:05 p.m., Thursday, at Lakewood.
• Jonathan Pettibone, Game 4, 7:05 p.m., Friday, at Lakewood.*
• May, Game 5, 7:05 p.m., Saturday, at Lakewood.*
*If necessary

May won the opening game of the semifinal series at Hickory on Wednesday, 7-0. He threw 6 2/3 shutout innings in which he allowed four hits and one walk. He struck out a franchise playoff record 13. May hasn't allowed a run in 17 2/3 playoff innings over the last two years at Lakewood.

Catcher Sebastian Valle, another 20-year-old, homered in that game. In 10 career playoff games, he has three homers.

The BlueClaws are trying to win the third championship in their 10-year history. They won in 2006 and again last season, when they defeated Greenville, 3-1. The last SAL team to win back-to-back titles was Savannah, 1993-94.

Tickets to the games in Lakewood may be purchased by calling 732-901-7000.
