Burrell's two-run homer lifts Phils past Yanks

Yankees at the plate: Johnny Damon collected a double and a single in his first two at-bats as a Yankee, giving the Legends Field crowd a look at New York's new leadoff hitter. Robinson Cano picked up where he left off last season, belting an RBI single in his first at-bat. Andy Phillips hit the Yankees' only homer, a solo shot off Gavin Floyd in the sixth.

Phillies at the plate: Pat Burrell bashed a two-run homer off young left-hander Sean Henn, the Phillies' first homer of the spring. Shawn Garrett doubled in two runs in the seventh, part of a three-run inning. Chris Coste added a solo homer in the eighth off J.B. Cox.

Yankees on the mound: Shawn Chacon made his first start of the spring, tossing a pair of scoreless innings. After retiring the first five Phillies batters, Chacon allowed a single and a walk before getting the third out in the second inning. Chacon threw 30 pitches, 17 for strikes. Mike Myers allowed three runs in one inning of work. Aaron Small pitched two scoreless innings.

Phillies on the mound: Starter Ryan Franklin had two rough innings, allowing two runs on five hits. Four of those hits came in the second inning, as New York plated runs on Jorge Posada's sacrifice fly and Cano's RBI single. Ryan Madson tossed two scoreless innings, while Floyd allowed one run in two innings of work.

Grapefruit League records: Phillies 1-0; Yankees 0-1.
