Moyer ticketed for DL with elbow injury

ST. LOUIS -- Phillies left-hander Jamie Moyer promised one thing on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium: He would pitch again.

When? He could not say.

Moyer left Tuesday's 7-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals after the first inning with a strained left elbow. Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said Moyer is "definitely" headed to the 15-day disabled list. He also said that the injury is comparable to the one left-hander J.A. Happ suffered in April, which forced Happ to miss a couple months.

Moyer said he did not feel anything tweak or pop.

"I just couldn't finish pitches," he said.

Moyer said he expects to return to Philadelphia for testing.

"My goal is to keep a positive mental outlook, whatever the diagnosis is," he said. "I expect to pitch again."
