PITTSBURGH -- Major League Baseball announces its American League and National League All-Star rosters Sunday, which means Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is in the final stages of naming his team.
Manuel will name eight reserves, plus five players for a final online vote at MLB.com.
"I don't put nothing ahead of our team," Manuel said. "Winning tonight's game is my first priority. But the All-Star Game is an honor. We definitely want to make sure we come as close as possible to getting the right people there."
Manuel isn't tipping his hand. Asked whether he might name Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay as the National League's starting pitcher, he said, "We've got some good guys out there, man. That's a big choice. We've got some good starters. When I look at our pitching, I like the National League's pitching. We've got some guys having big years."
